The Buckley/Brady line movement is fascinating. In the large $25 buy-in contest, 67 people max entered. Of those, 12 fully faded the fight, 4 went all-in on Buckley and nobody went all-in on Brady.
Here's the full field ownership comparison with 150-maxers vs. non-maxers.
Here are the biggest differences in ownership for 150-maxers vs. non-maxers in this week's large $25 buy-in PGA contest.
150-maxers like Keegan, Hovland, and Rose; under on Smalley, Adam Scott, and Yellamaraju.
150-maxers represent 33% of all entries.
People seemed to like the comparison of the 150-maxers to the non-150-maxers, so here's what it looks like in today's $25 Showdown contest.
Combined R1 score for the Top 10 under-owned by the 150-maxers: -53 vs. +8 for the Top 10 over-owned.
By comparison, here is the distribution of ownership for Yellamaraju for the 150-maxers who had average exposure of 5.3% vs. the non-150-maxers at 16.1%.
I took a look at the large $25 PGA contest for the week and compared average ownership of the 150-maxers to those who didn't enter 150. Interesting to see how big some of the differences are. Below are the six highest on both sides.
For context, there were 86 150-maxers (27% of all entries).
Scheffler ownership is also interesting. 150-maxers had average exposure of 24.3% vs. the non-150-maxers of 29.4%. Below is a histogram that shows how Scheffler's ownership was spread across the 150-maxers with the majority being below 30% and a few being much more concentrated.
Why PGA remains fun:
Checked the "expert" ownership projections for the flagship contest:
• One site had Rico Hoey at 30% (actual: 11%)
• Another had Scheffler at 42% (actual: 27%)
• Yet another had Berger at 8% (actual: 15%)
Note to self, there's room for improvement.
Which of these do you think is closest to Scottie's ownership in large field PGA contests tomorrow? There currently seems to be a wide range of opinions.
