🪰 Scientists working with #Drosophila are widely known for the creative names they assign to newly discovered #genes.

👻 Genes, such as spook, spookier, phantom, disembodied, shadow, and shade are not an exception.

😱 All these genes encode cytochrome P450 enzymes, vital for the production of moulting hormones, such as ecdysterone and ecdysone, which drive Drosophila embryonic development.
