Robinhood vs Coinbase ��
While everyone is watching and shouting that Bitcoin is falling, it's quite an interesting confrontation.

Ten years these companies existed side by side and did not interfere with each other. @coinbase , this is crypto. @RobinhoodApp , this is stocks. Different people, different money, different goals.

In June 2024 Robinhood bought Bitstamp. Did not add a coin to the list, did not launch a new tab in the app, but bought a ready-made crypto exchange with licenses in more than 50 countries. The deal was closed exactly a year later, in June 2025. It was then that analysts first began to write: "HOOD versus COIN, who is more interesting?" Before that moment such a question simply did not exist.

On June 30, 2025 Robinhood CEO @vladtenev spoke in Cannes. Announced his own blockchain, tokenized stocks and trading without stops, around the clock, five days a week. For a company that grew on people buying Apple shares through a phone, this was a turn directly toward what Coinbase had been building for years.

Coinbase did not respond immediately. In December 2025 it launched stock trading with zero commission. And on January 1, 2026 @brian_armstrong published priorities for the year: "Become a single exchange for everything, crypto, stocks, derivatives, commodity markets." After this post one of the headlines in the industry press wrote bluntly: "Robinhood has those retail clients that Coinbase wants."

Why this did not start earlier, a good question. Technologies for tokenizing stocks on blockchain in a regulated environment simply did not exist until 2024. There was no tool. As soon as it appeared, both companies moved in one direction and the meeting became a matter of time.

Now about money, because here is the most interesting part. Robinhood is now worth about $68 billion. Coinbase, about $43 billion. A company that many still perceive as an app for buying stocks is valued on the exchange higher than the largest US crypto exchange. Coinbase never returned to the levels of its 2021 IPO. Robinhood in 2025 grew by 66% and entered the S&P 500.

By users the count is different. Coinbase has about 100 million registered accounts worldwide. Robinhood has 24 million. But Robinhood’s are people with retirement accounts and real savings inside. Many accounts and much money on accounts are not the same thing, and both companies understand this perfectly.

They are building the same thing. The only question is which of them people trust more with their real money.
