Masobe can be an important institution that has contributed immensely to Nigerian publishing, and it can also be held accountable for poor communication and unprofessional experiences.

At the same time, let’s not downplay the role of book influencers. They don’t just post pretty pictures of books. They introduce readers to new authors, create conversations around stories, drive book sales, and help build a reading culture. (We all can see that) For many readers, an influencer’s recommendation is the reason they discover or buy a book in the first place.

If the goal is a stronger publishing industry, then publishers, authors, and influencers need one another. Accountability and institutional growth have to exist side by side. Supporting an industry doesn’t mean ignoring its problems. It means listening, improving, and valuing everyone’s contribution.
