The Digital Age Assurance Act is being sold as the age check that never asks for your ID. You just tell your device how old you are.

But if a company decides your behavior doesn't match the age you gave, it has to report you upstream, and the operating system provider "shall verify the age of the user."

The bill never says how. It requires verification and then refuses to limit the method. Which means the method will be the cheapest one already built: a document upload or a face scan.
