Does Yzerman have an entire cult or something? How are hockey fans blaming Larkin for 10 years of no playoffs when Yzerman has done nothing to improve the roster?
Couple of thoughts while digesting Larkin trade request. He's a perfect fit for the Bruins, but the Bruins may not be a perfect fit for him. Total control with a NTC and probably 20+ teams with interest. This is pretty much his call.
Hey you're closer to the team than I am so if that's the sentiment on the ground in Detroit, so be it. But with Yzerman calling the shots, I'm afraid nothing is going to change.
To be honest, I'm pretty sure 90% of hockey fans want Detroit in the playoffs again, and 90% aren't blaming Larkin right now.
Outside perspective looking in: it's shallow to claim the captain who has stuck by his hometown team for TEN YEARS of zero postseason games is weak for wanting to go win something. How many years before it's justifiable? In 5 years, when he's 35 and has a couple years left to maybe win something?
@diabolic2448 Agree. I think standing pat is the worst of all options but NOW you have three lanes:
give up a lot of assets for a player like Hronek, give up a lot of assets for players like Larkin, Kyrou, or Barzal, OR move up in the draft. I still prefer moving up in the draft.
I've seen a lot of Hronek/Bruins hypotheticals - many of which include 1st rounders, Lohrei, Potrias etc.
My personal opinion is the better ROI is moving up in the draft, preferably into the top 10, rather than adding a 28-year-old d-man to this roster.
