Snow removal throughout the night. Runways will not be cleared bare prior snow switching to freezing rain Sun AM to prevent ice adhering directly to the pavement. Plowing will resume Sun evening.
A very busy stretch of impactful weather is almost upon us! Here's the latest. First, tonight our snowstorm arrives, changing to an icy mix then all rain for most locations on Sunday (except the highest elevations). Periods of moderate to heavy rain continue all day Sunday.
Looking to be snowy tomorrow with possible mixed precipitation in the afternoon. Airport staff will be on site and ready to clear the runways. Pilots please check NOTAMs for runway condition updates.
Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from 4/7 am to 6 pm Thu across eastern NY & western New England. A quick burst of snowfall of 1-3"/2-4" will move in from south to north 6-9 am . The snow changes to sleet and freezing rain by the pm. Morning commute will be impacted.
Curious about the helicopter in the south part of Pittsfield? The electric utility provider is conducting aerial tree trimming along the high-tension lines. The work will continue for several days as they work into other parts of the region.

To add insult to injury, these flurries are coating over already icy runways, resulting in FICON scores of 0 on all parts of both runways. Airport Ops continues to work at clearing the ice and snow, but no ETA on opening the runways yet.
The primary NOTAM system is experiencing a temporary outage, but there is currently
no impact to the National Airspace System because a backup system is in place.
NOTAMs provide updates about anything that may effect the safety of a flight.
All active NOTAMs were available until the time of the outage. The agency activated its contingency system to supplement and support preflight briefings and continue flight operations.
The @FAANews is working to fully restore the system, and there may be some residual delays tomorrow morning. Please check with your airline for updates.

FAA has set up a hotline to communicate with aviation stakeholders and will send notices every 30 minutes with updates on the system's status.
PILOTS should anticipate a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) to be active in the area and likely affecting the flights to/from/around PSF during this event.
