On World Water Day, we’re spotlighting how innovation helps us make every drop count.

Across our global operations, Freeport has achieved an average water use efficiency of 89% over the past five years, largely by recycling and reusing water throughout our processes. As detailed in our Annual Report on Sustainability, most of the water we consume globally is reused, which helps reduce demand for other sources.

That mindset also drives our innovative leaching initiatives. Our models show that copper production from leaching is about 50% more water‑efficient than traditional mill concentrator processing, helping us maximize recovery while minimizing water use.
