HMSPR-(Oil), Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri Ph.D; (Gas), RT.Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo,
articulates, implements and regulates key policies in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Sector.
We remain committed to building investors’ confidence in our oil sector as we deliberately transform the industry to ensure mutual benefits for both the Nigerian people and our valued partners, positioning Nigeria as a reliable and attractive destination for energy investment, while ensuring optimal value from our natural resource.
I made this reaffirmation while receiving Mr. J. Hunter Farris, Senior Vice President, Deepwater, ExxonMobil Upstream Company, who paid me a courtesy visit upon his arrival to Nigeria. He conveyed appreciation for our long-standing partnership and reiterated ExxonMobil’s commitment to deepwater Nigeria as the company celebrates the 20th Anniversary of First Production from the Erha Deepwater Field.
I am particularly encouraged by ExxonMobil’s communication of additional investments in new projects, including a new FPSO, brownfield renovations, multiple wells, and subsea infrastructure, with the potential to recover up to one billion barrels in phases.
I commend ExxonMobil’s continued commitment to driving production in line with our national objectives. Under the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ongoing reforms remain focused on strengthening the sector, and I call on operators to commit to new investments while stabilizing existing ones.
