@onjezani Jomo is a story of an unlikey candidate turning things around. He's proving his naysayers wrong, telling it in their face that education is no yardstick to work magic. He's a true hero
We are keeping track. So far, Mayor Jomo Osman:
1) has tackled and continues to tackle the problem of violence by street kids;
2) has and continues to evict vendors from selling their products on road pavements in the heart of town, where they are not supposed to be;
3) is addressing the high rate of accidents caused by motorbike taxis; and
4) has, and continues to champion the cleaning up of filth in many parts of Blantyre city.
Tangible results.
There's still more work to be done, but we see where we're coming from and where we're going.
Keep running, son of the soil.
@USEmbassyLLW This is a very good initiative considering that there's a knowledge gap in crafting excellent resumes. I wish I could attend and I hope that the Embassy will one day invite me to be part of the participants, God willing.
Since I first voted in 1999, my village has always looked to me for guidance on the best candidate—trusting my analysis and judgment. But for the first time in 25 years, as I prepare to visit this weekend, I find myself without an answer. I simply don’t know what to tell them.
📣The Caine Prize for African Writing is delighted to announce that South African writer Nadia Davids has been awarded the 2024 Caine Prize for African Writing for her outstanding short story, Bridling, published in The Georgia Review in 2023. 📚🌟🇿🇦
Congratulations Nadia! ✨
@LiteraturReview I hope there’s a literary silver lining across the writing skies and this will likely help the sinking ship back on its writing feet, thanks to both budding and veteran writers like Stanley. I won’t be taken by surprise to see one writer from Malawi bagging a Caine Prize home!
