Students from Health Science, EMT & Sports Medicine spent this past weekend at the HOSA Fall Leadership Conference. Students engaged in workshops to become stronger leaders as they plan upcoming chapter events like competitions, community service projects, and fundraisers.
Adv. Computer Engineering will have the chance to work with NAO AI Edition Robots in the spring semester. "We're adapting," shares Evan, a senior from Blue Springs South. "Some jobs have gone away, but new ones are being developed. This training will help us stay competitive."
Cybersecurity students are taking a closer look at the news and how media impacts their industry. "They read a lot," shares instructor Jim Lumpkin. "Our industry moves fast. They also have to discern what's real and what's not. What's fake? What's someone's opinion versus fact?"
Our Fire Science & EMT program had so much fun helping out Centerpoint Medical Center with their annual mass-casualty exercise last week. Some of our students even made connections with staff and have job shadows lined up to further explore their profession!
The CTC hosted its third annual Industry Appreciation Breakfast today, with over 50 guests from our sending school districts, chambers of commerce, businesses, and community organizations joining us for a delicious breakfast prepared by our very own Culinary Arts students.
One of the new additions to CTC is our Intro to Robotics class. This one-hour program offers Fort Osage freshmen the chance to dive into entry-level robot construction and programming, giving them an opportunity to explore a potential pathway early in their high school career.
Had the BEST time at Rink Ratz for our first @SkillsUSA social. CSI, Fire/EMT, Construction, Auto, HVAC, Cybersecurity, & Nail Tech students & even a few instructors took to the floor. CSI dominated the limbo & splits contests, with pizza & arcade games to finish off the night!
