@Peston At some point they have to reflect on the values of public service which are : selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.
One observation having investigated the Letby case for over a year is how frightened people working in the NHS still are of speaking up. Those of us who are retired can express a view, but every NHS expert I’ve spoken to has been very wary of going public in person, because of the effects it might have on their career. Their employers and institutions are telling them to shut up because they don’t want to be linked to the case in any way. It has taken me over a year to find a neonatal nurse prepared to speak to the media, and the interview will come out later this week. But they are absolutely terrified of being identified. What does that tell you about safety culture in the NHS, and how little progress we have made over the last 25 years?
@Keir_Starmer You have targeted Pensioners very quickly and it seems Mrs Reeves said she wanted to do this in 2014. Many pensioners are “working people” volunteers in the NHS “for free” if they stopped the NHS would suffer. You can’t put a price on support but it is more than a fuel payment.
Interesting article in the Guardian today. Labour pledge to ban those who silence NHS whistleblowers and target those who speak up when they raise concerns………. Shame it takes a change of Govt for something positive like this to happen…. #refreshing
Excellent Board Meeting today at B&FC There is an exciting feeling around the place and evident in the ambition of the CEO, Exec and Staff who want to achieve great things for students and the community through partnership. Excellent dinner served by Students on 6th Floor.
@LawrenceDunhill@mattdiscombe Just short term political target chasing …. no strategy, investment or end to end thinking. It needs realistic demand planning and balanced funded resources. Ask the staff what they need and what is possible and supporting them is what is needed.
Good day today. Met with a family who wanted to give me feedback on their fathers experience at the Trust which they hoped could have been better. Then moved to 3 1-1’s with members of our Trusts Exec Steve, Mark and Chris sharing insights and feedback. Good to talk and learn 👍
