U.S. Central Command forces struck three Iranian crude oil tankers on September 5 after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched ballistic missiles at two U.S. Navy warships patrolling regional waters. An American aircraft carrier and a guided missile destroyer evaded the attacks, and no U.S. personnel were harmed.

In response, CENTCOM permanently disabled the M/T Downy off Kharg Island, Iran’s primary oil export hub in the Persian Gulf, and the M/T Stark 1 near Jask. American forces also completely destroyed the unladen M/T Kylo, also known as Noxen, in the Gulf of Oman after directing its crew to abandon ship.

The three tankers are part of a multibillion dollar shadow network that funds the IRGC and its regional proxies. The strikes delivered a major economic blow to Iran’s oil network as tensions continue to rise across the region.

Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander, said: “Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost, taking out three of yours.”

The strikes come as fighting around the Strait of Hormuz has intensified again following a stretch of relative calm. The U.S. continues a naval blockade of Iranian oil exports while keeping commercial transit lanes open for vessels not violating the blockade.

Iranian media earlier reported a tanker hit near Kharg Island and said there were no casualties on that vessel. U.S. forces issued radio warnings before some of the strikes.

A dashcam recording from inside a car at a suburban intersection shows a man losing his balance while riding an electric cargo trike. In this clip, watch as the rider enters the junction just as the light turns from green to yellow to red, his body suddenly leaning to one side as he hangs off the frame of the three wheeler while the empty cargo bed swings behind him.

The vehicle does not straighten out. It swings through the open intersection in a wide, sloppy arc with the rider still hooked to it, half on, half off. A white car cuts through the same junction as the trike keeps rotating across the lanes.

The light flips while this is happening. The cargo trike is still circling and drifting as the clip ends, the rider fighting to stay with the machine instead of stopping it.

This video does not show a crash with the filming vehicle, and it remains unclear from the footage alone whether the rider fully lost control or managed to steady himself.

Brendan Fraser turned an ordinary red carpet moment into a memorable fan interaction when he stopped to help a fan struggling to take a photo at the European premiere of Pressure in London.

A customer pushes a humanoid robot inside a Russian electronics store, and the machine immediately makes a move that looks remarkably like a kick. CCTV from Volga Store in Saratov shows the customer shoving the humanoid robot known as Syoma. After the contact, the robot steps forward and swings one leg toward the man before store staff grab it and hold it down until the machine is powered off. The funny part is that the robot probably was not actually trying to fight anyone. Humanoid robots use fast balance corrections to keep themselves upright after being pushed or knocked off position. A recovery movement can easily look like a deliberate kick, especially when the machine continues making awkward movements afterward.

Volga Store posted the footage and joked that Syoma needed an emotional reboot. No serious injuries were reported.

The video it looks like a scene from a robot comedy. But the footage also shows a real issue with modern humanoid robots. When their recovery movements do not stop as expected, humans may still need to physically intervene.

So, is this the future of technology or the future of needing a bigger emergency button?

A motorcycle passenger smashed a car window and stole a Brazilian content creator’s iPhone in roughly one second while she was trapped in São Paulo traffic.

On Friday evening, August 28, 2026, around 6 p.m., automotive content creator Tabata Lenk was stopped in traffic on Avenida Presidente Tancredo Neves in São Paulo’s south zone. Two men on a motorcycle pulled alongside her car before the passenger broke the side window and grabbed the iPhone from its dashboard mount.

Dashcam footage captured the entire theft. After the motorcycle disappeared, Lenk remained frozen for several seconds before she began crying and shaking. She later said her legs became weak and that she struggled to continue driving until another motorist stopped to help.

The incident was followed by another serious loss. Lenk said approximately R$2,000 around $386 US was transferred from her Nubank account shortly after the phone was stolen. She stated that the suspects did not have her password, Face ID or bank transfer PIN, and she does not know how the transaction was completed.

Lenk filed an electronic police report, remotely locked the phone and contested the transaction with the bank. The case was sent to the 95th Police District in Heliópolis. As of August 31, investigators had not announced any arrests.

The attack follows the familiar São Paulo “quebra vidro” (Window Smash) pattern, in which thieves target vehicles stopped in traffic because drivers have little opportunity to pursue them.

A gyrocopter struck overhead cables near a hydroelectric dam in northern Italy before crashing into a grassy mountainside, both people aboard died.

The fatal crash happened on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in the Upper Antrona Valley near Campliccioli Dam in Antrona Schieranco, in the Verbano Cusio Ossola province of Piedmont. The two seat yellow gyrocopter had taken off from Megolo airfield in Pieve Vergonte and was flying at low altitude over the dam and artificial lake.

The aircraft collided with cables belonging to an Enel service cableway used for maintenance access to the hydroelectric facilities. The installation is a service line rather than a public passenger cable car. After striking the cables, the gyrocopter caught fire and crashed onto a grassy slope beside the lake.

The victims were identified as 62 year old engineer and private pilot Alessandro Angelo Muscinelli and his 63 year old sister in law Antonella Pagliarani. Both died at the scene.

Emergency crews, firefighters, Alpine rescue personnel, Guardia di Finanza and a helicopter from Malpensa responded to the remote crash site. Investigators are examining visibility conditions, a possible attempted turn, the marking of the cables on aviation maps and whether the required authorization to fly over the protected natural park had been obtained.

A joint funeral was held on Saturday 29 August 2026 at 11 a.m. in the Church of Santa Margherita in Premeno.

The crash occurred inside the Parco Naturale dell’Alta Valle Antrona.

He walked up to the tree with one simple mission. Get a good scratch. Then the black bear completely missed the tree and had the funniest possible recovery.

The bear stands on his hind legs and reaches toward the bark, but his paw goes straight through the space where the tree is supposed to be. He drops back down, walks a few steps like absolutely nothing happened, then stands again and looks around.

That final look is what makes this wildlife moment so funny. It almost feels like he is checking whether anyone witnessed the mistake.

But the behavior itself is completely normal. Black bears scratch and rub trees for several reasons, including leaving scent marks, shedding loose fur, and reaching itchy areas they cannot easily reach with a paw. Bears can also return to the same trees repeatedly.

So there is nothing unusual about a bear wanting to scratch a tree. The unusual part is simply the timing. The tree was right there. The bear just missed.

Peter Cullen, the legendary voice behind Optimus Prime and Eeyore, has died at the age of 85. His unmistakable voice helped define Transformers for more than four decades while also bringing one of Disney’s most beloved characters, Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, to life.

Student cellphone video from inside a Calaveras Unified school bus after the driver pulled over on Highway 49 near Russell Road in Calaveras County, California, on August 24, 2026. Recorded by a student on board.

Kids got rowdy on the ride home. A 12 year old on the bus said students were screaming and excited to get off. One student climbed out a window. The driver stopped, told everyone to sit, roll the windows up, and wait for deputies instead of letting anyone off. Students called parents. Nichole Wellington said her son phoned her scared and stuck. She went to the door, the driver would not open it, and she told him to climb out. Another parent, Rebecca Glover, told her children to stay seated because the driver had every child on the bus to consider.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office said a parent struck the bus door, breaking the glass, and was taken into custody at the school district’s request on suspicion of vandalism. Video then shows an adult woman climbing in through an already open side window and confronting the driver. Officials have not confirmed that the woman in the clip is the person arrested. Later reports, including CBS Sacramento, said no windows were broken. The damage was to the door glass, not a side window.

Superintendent Kassandra Meeks said the driver followed district protocol and that bus windows are emergency exits only. The district later said the bus was stopped about four minutes to address behavior before the parent began hitting the door. Parent and student accounts described a longer hold.

Karoline Leavitt has officially reached her final day as White House press secretary, ending roughly 20 months in the role.
