Going live today at 10am Eastern with Episode 31: "Building the UI." We're building the framework for what will become the final UI. Playtesting will tell us what sticks and what doesn't.

Ran into something odd in Around the Core, the more I upgraded, the less chain reactions I saw. I was clearing the enemies faster than they respawned.

Seven months since my last studio update. In that time I cut my day job to 20 hours, almost shelved my Castlevania 2 remake, and lost all the data on my home server.

Going live today at 10am Eastern to "Complete the Loop." We're connecting town and dungeon so players can run the full cycle: start in town, explore the dungeon, return, and go again. Come watch it all come together.

@sharkygamesai Not at this time. I was going to see if my playtest feedback found they wanted that. Initial plans is more Minecraft Dungeons style, where it's unique every time you venture in. But it should be pretty straight forward to just save the arrays and rebuild from them if needed.
A solo dev spent 7 years building a turn-based strategy game. It launched on early access and sold almost nothing.
Why did Lords of the Void fail? (Spoiler: it's fixable)

Going live today at 10am Eastern with "Escape the Dungeon." We're planning milestone 5 and building out the exit system so the party actually has a way out of the level. Come argue about design on stream.

I got knocked out in round 1. The game told me I won the match.

If you're making a hard platformer, the pixel-perfect crowd isn't your only audience.

@WeVennStudios I think I have it working as of Friday’s stream, but in playing it with my son this weekend, I think we found a slight bug where the monsters stack up on the cardinal directions, so I need to revise to add in diagonal checking as well.
@WeVennStudios Didn't get to the BFS part today. I managed to break my Turn Manager with a backwards IF statement that I didn't catch for too long.... Tomorrow I'm going to attempt BFS again.
@Colinf13_xpo There is nothing I can say that would invoke a rationale discussion of when I have and when I haven't used AI. But thanks for engagement with the post to help drive up the visibility of it!
Before you ask YouTubers to play your game...

Here's some developer feedback on an early prototype and the lessons every indie dev can take away from it.

@Colinf13_xpo I actually talked to the dev more. Turns out it's a 14 year old who is just starting out. I did get the feeling what I was seeing was inexperience and not ill intent, as I think I said in the video.
