@ChuckHeineman @nut_history What happens is that he has to explain crap to casual fans that avid fans already know when he’s on a national broadcast. When I saw him on Mets and Cardinals broadcasts, he was great partly because he could get more in depth with the team fans.

@nut_history I thought Tim McCarver, like many baseball broadcasters, was great doing team work for the Mets and Cardinals. However, when he had to “dumb it down” for casual fans on national broadcasts, he wasn’t as good. Same for Bob Costas and Joe Buck.
