This is the personal account of the forehead that commentates on and protects the mind of one of Ireland's leading thinkers with regards to drug policy.
Karen’s daughter faced a heartbreaking situation when she was denied access to any cannabis-based medication. In a desperate bid for relief, she had no choice but to undergo brain surgery yesterday before even having the opportunity to try a potentially life-changing treatment.
@wesstreeting This tragic outcome highlights the urgent need for reform in accessing medicinal cannabis. Patients should not have to endure such extreme measures when alternative treatments are available. We must advocate for better access to cannabis-based therapies to prevent more families from facing similar crises.
What is your MP doing to help people in urgent need of NHS access?
#endourpain
Why does @GardaTraffic feel the need to waste over €2500 of tax payers money to bring a woman to court for €5 of cannabis?
Where is the “health-led” approach being used here? In matter of fact, where has common sense been used here?
Absolute abuse of power and the discrimination here & its absolutely sickening.
Maybe its time AGS stop harassing people for cannabis & start clearing up actual crime.
People are dying , people are being imprisoned , people are having lives and careers ruined while we hear empty statements of empty promises.
We need commitment, action and implementation.
This election is similar to a badly choreographed WWE wrestling match. You are expected to suspend your critical faculties and pretend it's a real contest.
STUDY confirms what #cannabis users have long known. Conclusive evidence for claims made regarding the plant’s calming effects. #drugspolicy https://t.co/GcHj0uBosC
Fine Gael's Helen McEntee tells Virgin Media that Fine Gael will not decriminalise cannabis or drug use if they get into Government.
Not a single vote vote for FG if you support evidence based drugs policy.
Whatever the outcome in terms of next programme for Gov
The political conversation about drug reform has demonstrably changed in Ireland
Huge credit to people like Senator Lynn Ruane, @AodhanORiordain and @Ginosocialist who've been utterly central to this change
This is welcome to see from @sinnfeinireland@FineGael will now likely sit alone alongside the far right in the Oireachtas in repudiating the recommendations of the Citizens' Assembly & Joint Oireachtas Committee
Harris has screwed over FG people who've worked on this
#GE24
IRELAND. Dunderheaded @FineGael@fiannafailparty don't understand #drugspolicy. Conclusive recommendations from multiple sources advise decriminalisation. If accepted then it's more important for hard drugs than for #cannabis https://t.co/f6jAPfhayW
Charlatan @SimonHarrisTD contradicts Justice Committee report, Citizens Assembly report and Drugs Use Committee report. They all recommend the same thing but he is still sabotaging progress. Unfit for office. #drugspolicy https://t.co/OpWdUa7nxN
There are zero benefits to criminalising people who use drugs, it does not deter or decrease drug use, what it does is increase harms & waste resources. Way past time to end the moral judgement policy & put in place a policy based on analysis and evidence.
@fiannafailparty clarifies:Decrim for only cannabis. Other substances will remain a criminal offence.
Moving even further away from recommendations of the citizen assembly and Oireachtas Committee.
Simply not good enough.

@MichealLehane Anybody who drinks alcohol or smokes cigarettes should have to attend treatment or education programmes.
See how fucking stupid that sounds?
@MichealLehane But according to @Prof_Jo_Ivers of @tcddublin, 90% of all drug use is without harm to the user or wider society, so what is the point of "treatment or education"? Is this to be compulsory? What for?
@r_crainn Absolutely shocking. I hope she gets the help she needs after enduring the shock of witnessing the horrific spectacle of a monetary transaction being carried out on our streets. Thoughts and prayers.
