High Commissioner of Canada to Pakistan, Tarik Ali Khan called on Deputy Prime Minister/ Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 today.
The two sides reviewed Pakistan–Canada bilateral relations and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
Deputy Prime Minister /Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 chaired a Committee meeting to review the existing Guidelines for the Establishment of Universities and Higher Education Institutions in Pakistan.
The committee reviewed the draft 2026 HEC Regulatory Framework for the Establishment and Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Pakistan, in the light of direction given by the committee in the last meeting .The revlevant stakeholders provided a detailed briefing to the Committee about the work they have carried out in this regard.
The committee appreciated the efforts of the Higher Education. DPM/ FM directed HEC to incorporate further recommendations provided by this committee in today’s meeting and submit the revised draft to the Ministry of Federal Education for onward submission to the Federal Cabinet for approval.
DPM/ FM while highlighting government’s commitment towards quality education stated that strengthening Pakistan’s higher education system and impartting knowledge through highest standards of quality, transparency, and excellence is the hallmark of this government.
The Meeting was attended by Ministers of Law , IPC and Education and Professional Training, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Federal Secretaries, HEC team , Rector NUST senior government officials and relevant stakeholders.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 Dar50 chaired the 6th meeting of the High-Level Committee for the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, which will be hosted by Pakistan from 12–13 July 2026.
The meeting reviewed the final phase of preparations, including the draft programme, conference agenda, protocol, security and logistical arrangements, media and communication strategy, inter-ministerial coordination, and other organizational matters.
The Committee discussed measures to ensure the seamless conduct and successful hosting of the Conference, which will bring together 57 OIC Member States to strengthen cooperation on women's empowerment, inclusion, and sustainable development.
The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the progress made by the Ministry of Human Rights and also issued directions to all relevant stakeholders to maintain close coordination and ensure timely completion of the remaining arrangements.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for IT& Telecommunications Shaza Fatima , SAPM Tariq Bajwa,Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, Secretary Human Rights Abdul Khaliq Shaikh and other senior officials.

Deputy Prime Minister / Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 chaired Advisory Board Meeting of the Centre of Excellence for Autism, Islamabad today.
The meeting reviewed progress and discussed measures to strengthen inclusive education, early intervention, and support services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), reaffirming the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to creating a comprehensive support environment for persons with autism.
Ministry of a Federal Education and Professional Training gave a detailed briefing to the committee highlighting steps taken to establish a state of the art Center for Excellence to Autistic Children in Islamabad. Comments of renowned experts in this field were also invited by the Committee.
DPM/ FM directed to the relevant institutions to employ global best practices for ensuring quality education and services catering needs of special children and expedite work to implement government’s resolve to establish the Excellence Center.
The meeting was attended by SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Federal Secretaries of Education and Health and senior officials from relevant departments.
Deeply saddened by the tragic incident at Kahna Lahore, where 14 innocent children have lost their lives .
My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls and for early recovery of the injured.
