@mike_reader@reformparty_uk If it happened, and I'm not sure why you wouldn't back up such a claim, it's almost certainly a satirical comment on you as a representative of the most authoritarian and totalitarian government that has exited in this country in living memory.
@ZackPolanski They were dealt with using ordinary criminal law. It was just the sentence that considered terrorism an aggravating factor. Nonsense yes - but this has years of precedent with 'hate crimes' and I don't recollect you commenting on the poorly defined nature of 'hate'.
@bossbratbimbo In most cases yes - it is actually caramelised sugar added during cooking. Here for instance are so e Walmart caremelised onions. Typical American ignorance.
@gardener_the@harriepw It's alarming that people confidently believe nonsense spouted on twitter without checking first. It demonstrates such ignorance of how misinformation is promulgated amongst idiots.
@chunksafc1886@stephenlaw60 Fine, you're nitpicking. GBH was caused rather than wounding. This still in no way addresses the 'GBH without intent' condition you completely made up.
@chunksafc1886@stephenlaw60 This is like saying that a conviction for death by careless driving proves that the driving wasn't dangerous because they didn't reach the threshold to convict death by dangerous driving. It's an idiot's interpretation.
@NaomiFromKent I'm sorry - could you point to the jury's deliberations where they indicated that there was no intent on the behalf of the idiot who was swinging the sledgehammer.
@stephenlaw60 The fact that they couldn't reach the threshold for proving intent to cause the level of injuries suffered in no way makes a charge/conviction under Section 20 a 'where there is no intent' offence. Literally zero in the legislation about intent.
@ProfHall1955 It's exactly the same as 'hate crimes' being an aggravating factor that a judge can increase the tariff for. You didn't complain then that people were getting stiffer sentences for sending nasty tweets or beating people up did you?
@AshurShahana This is exactly the same as hate crimes. There's no crime of 'hate', it's just an aggravating factor. The precedent has been there for years before you got round to being upset by this case.
