The irony is hard to miss. Russia invaded Ukraine with neo-Nazi paramilitary formations and private military companies, all while claiming to be “de-Nazifying” the country.
It is Russia that established Nazi-style filtration camps in occupied territories, forcibly deported thousands of Ukrainian children, and placed many of them into so-called “re-education” programmes designed to erase their Ukrainian identity.
The gap between the Kremlin’s rhetoric and its actions could hardly be more stark.
Extremely sad waking up to reports of a fire at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra during Russia’s missile attack on Kyiv.
One of Ukraine’s most important religious and cultural sites, caught in another Russian attack. So much for the Kremlin’s claims of defending Christianity and conservative values.
This is Tartu University in Estonia, founded in 1632.
Russia’s first university was established in 1724. That’s 92 years later!
But please continue the story about how the Baltics were sitting in villages waiting for enlightenment from Moscow.
Aside from helping Putin murder many more Ukrainian civilians, Trump's preventing Ukraine from purchasing Patriot air defense missiles has now succeeded in forcing Ukraine to come up with its own Patriot system which will surely later be sold en masse to previous Patriot clients
This is the Irish minister for foreign affairs pushing sanctions for Isreal while she remains silent about the huge scandal around the russian refinery that still sends 14 ships to St Petersburg per month.
Russia stole our home, killed our friends, destroyed hospitals and schools, flew a drone into a passenger train, raped children, and we are the “Nazi’s” 🤦♂️
The American-led negotiations in Ukraine prolonged the war by encouraging Putin. The Russians dangled ludicrous business"deals" in front of Witkoff and Kushner who were too gullible to understand that they were being manipulated. Good the US has abandoned this failed policy
Absolutely nothing about the shameless farce staged by the Trump administration -- the attempts to cover up its total failure by pretending to engage in vigorous diplomacy, as well as the attempts to twist Ukraine’s arm and strike deals with the aggressor -- constituted “peace negotiations,” let alone genuine “mediation between the sides.”
Throughout this war, Russia and Ukraine have not had a single minute of real, honest peace talks. Because the Kremlin neither intended nor intends to abandon its megalomaniacal goals in a war it is incapable of winning, while Ukraine has no intention of capitulating and perishing in a war in which it could not be defeated.
And none of Donald Trump’s fantasies about profiting from imaginary Kremlin “trillions of dollars” will change that.
Only one thing has changed as a result of this farce: the Kremlin has been given maximum motivation not only to continue its hopeless war against Ukraine, but also a clear green light for future aggression against Europe. If Putin’s tanks cross the line there as well, America’s European allies will hear exactly the same thing from Trump that Ukraine already heard.
That is the kind of “legacy” that ends up written into history textbooks.
The "spirit of Anchorage" was the spirit of Molotov-Ribbentrop. But Zelenskyy and the brave Ukrainian people refused to play the part of the conquered and abandoned trading piece between Trump and Putin.
