Fernando Alonso and his Renault R25 will be forever iconic 💙💛
On the anniversary of his first F1 win in 2003, here's the two-time world champion's #FOS debut behind the wheel of his Renault R25 in 2005.
Sadly, #OnThisDay 25 August 2001, Ken Tyrrell, a major figure in F1 best known as the founder and manager of the Tyrrell Racing Organisation, passed away.
In 1968, Tyrrell entered Formula One with Jackie Stewart as his lead driver, and in 1971, Stewart won the World Championship driving a Tyrrell 003. The team also won the Constructors’ Championship the same year.
Tyrrell Racing became known for its innovative designs, including the unique six-wheeled Tyrrell P34 in 1976. Although the team saw success in the early 1970s, theystruggled to maintain competitiveness in the later years due to financial constraints and the increasing dominance of manufacturers with larger budgets. Despite the challenges, Ken Tyrrell remained involved in Formula One until 1998 when he sold his team to British American Tobacco, which rebranded it as British American Racing (BAR).

Remembering Didier Pironi, who died #OnThisDay 23 August 1987, when his powerboat flipped in the Solent off the Isle of Wight in the UK.
Known in F1 for his relentless pursuit of speed, Pironi continued this approach into watersports; in the wake of an oil tanker at full throttle, his boat flipped and instantly killed him and his two crew members. After his death, Pironi’s partner Catherine gave birth to their twins, naming them Gilles (after his teammate Villeneuve) and Didier himself.
