If McSweeney has to resign because he advised Starmer to appoint Mandelson why does Starmer not have to resign for actually taking the decision to appoint Mandelson?
Can you please provide details of the billions in export and investment deals you claim to have done with China. Other than China cutting the tariff on whisky — worth a mere £250m spread over 5 years to an industry which exports over £5bn every year — I can’t find any. Where are the billions in extra UK exports and new Chinese investment in UK resulting from your trip?
@StamfordReacts@AaronBastani So your point is that we should strive for good relationships so you can buy clothes on shein? How many people do you know who work for a Chinese company or China is their top customer? 0. My whole point is they don’t buy anything from us.
@UKLabour I hope Roman keeps every penny.
If Russians are the problem, why did UK governments hand out hundreds of “golden visas” to oligarchs for years, with Labour’s support?
Abramovich invested billions into the UK, paid taxes, rebuilt Chelsea, and funded communities. Due process…
@EdwardJDavey@EdwardJDavey Rich hearing Ed Davey lecture on ‘illegal actions’. His party backed Iraq and Libya. One based on lies, the other collapsed a state and destabilised a whole region. Spare us the selective outrage.
@MarkNaulty@afneil Everton fan talking about ‘whining’ while watching his club scrap relegation every season is peak irony. GB News on loop, Farage–Putin fan fiction in the timeline, and zero grasp of markets. Maybe focus on surviving another year at Goodison before lecturing anyone.
As many suspected and feared we have a Chancellor who knows nothing about stock markets. Or hostages to fortune: when the FTSE 100 plummets, as one day it will, by her logic that would a vote of no confidence in the UK economy.
@lukejcr@lukejcr Stock index headlines aren’t the lived reality for York voters facing rising costs and housing pressure. If FTSE 10k is Labour’s win condition, it’s no surprise polling shows voters already fed up with this government
@JonathanBrash@JonathanBrash Hartlepool is one of the most deprived areas in England. FTSE 100 gains don’t put food on tables here, especially when most FTSE revenues are earned overseas. Maybe focus less on stock market spin and more on outcomes for your constituents.
