Shared space, shared ownership and shared experience. I enjoyed getting up at Labour Conference and making the case for Community Britain and the co-operative movement today.
Great to be part of @coopparty South East event today. Focused on the need for politics to better understand the national importance of shared space, shared experience and shared ownership and support it.
The Co-operative Party is pleased to support Labour and Co-operative MP @andyburnham for Leader of the Labour Party.
If successful, Andy Burnham will be the first Labour and Co-operative Prime Minister in history.
Today, we welcomed our newest MP at our Parliamentary group meeting, @andyburnham.
This Parliament we’ve helped deliver the biggest shift in power to communities in a generation, and there’s so much more campaigning we’re excited to share with you soon.
🐝 Andy Burnham will be the Co-operative Party's first Prime Minister. @CoopParty's assistant general secretary Caitlin Prowle talks to LabourList about the "historic moment of opportunity" for the co-operative movement https://t.co/Rjm82XMgcL
Incredibly sad news - Shanika was a great colleague and friend. She was great to work with and I always enjoyed catching up with her and hearing about her latest exploits. Thoughts with all her friends and family. 🐝
The Co-operative Party is deeply saddened to hear of the death of Shanika Mahendran, Councillor for New Bradwell, and a former member of our staff team.
It was great host a cross-party roundtable with a delegation of Ukrainian and Canadian co-operators to Parliament where we discussed support for co-operatives in Ukraine and how to rebuild back from the rubble of war.
I was delighted to host as Chair of the @CoopParty as we discussed a range of issues from co-operative development and opportunities in farming, energy, housing, and social care services.
Thank you to fellow co-operator @alexsobel who also chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group and acts as Trade Envoy to Ukraine for Charing one of our sessions, and to @FortuneJF and @CaitProwle from the Co-operative Party.
Safe journey and carry on co-operating 🇺🇦🇬🇧🇨🇦🐝

Writing for @HuffPostUK, Co-operative Party's Joe Fortune explains why it matters that Andy Burnham is likely to be the UK's first Labour and Co-operative PM:

"Co-operative care can deliver a more personalised care that puts both recipients and workers in control. International evidence demonstrates the power of co-operative care to improve service quality, wages, working conditions, and staff retention." ✏️ Dan Monaghan
Detail here from @CaitProwle on removing private profit from the adult social care sector and using co-operatives instead – something Burnham, as a Co-op PM, may well be interested in picking up: https://t.co/e0Ely1heAE
There is a sizeable co-operative footprint in UK agriculture and today, within its Farming Roadmap for England the Government has set out its ambition to help create many more. Co-ops are robust, productive and more equitable and will help deliver the food security we all need.
The government's new Farming Roadmap puts co-operatives at the heart of English agriculture.
In its own words, co-ops and mutuals will play "a much larger role": lowering costs, spreading risk and giving farmers a fairer share of the value they create. 🐝
99 years ago, the Cheltenham Agreement created the Labour and Co-operative electoral pact, and together we've fought for an society where wealth and power are shared ever since.
Every Labour and Co-operative representative and campaigner today is part of that story.
Congratulations to both @JimfromOldham and Ruth Hall who were re-elected as Chair and Vice Chair at the @CoopParty NEC AGM earlier this morning as well. Both have provided invaluable leadership to the Party.
Thanks very much to the new OurCoop for the invite to address their first AMM last night in Oxford. Also a huge thanks to members who voted to continue their support of the @coopparty
Proudly part of the co-operative movement.
Thank you @coopuk members for voting to continue our historic partnership, so we can continue to deliver on the values and principles of our movement.
