...And yet something is missing from the debate: a call for a fully-comprehensive education service which is democratic and life-enhancing.
The FORUM Board has compiled this ebook in order to raise that call.
This year’s general election may see the Conservatives defeated and the Labour Party returned to power. Such a prospect raises the possibility – and the hope – that education policy in England could take a better direction. It’s a pivotal moment...
There is still time to get your submission in for our exciting Summer issue - perhaps a letter to the education secretary (or their successor...) about what you would want to see change / done differently in education going forward?
Call for papers! To chime with our latest e-book, Renewing public education: proposals for an inclusive, democratic and joyful system, we invite articles which would bolster such a system. What needs saying to the Education Secretary, or their successor? https://t.co/Syrc3JWZhM

'The Briefing Room' on @BBCRadio4 last night debated the pros and cons of #Ofsted. If you'd like to read more about such debates, you might find our issue: Educational inspection: coercive or responsive? of interest https://t.co/gIacvrK0dC
Equally, Patrick Yarker's blog, 'Comprehensive education means unlearning ‘ability’ and all its works' is important in reminding us of the flimsy (non-existent?) ideology on which selective education systems are based. https://t.co/CtlXR2UuCx
A fascinating debate - if you're interested in exploring the issues discussed further, you will find rich discussion and debate across the articles in Forum. https://t.co/cPt3EU16qs
It was an enjoyable and interesting discussion, and @DanielKebedeNEU made strong points about continuing inequality in our system - through existence of the 11 plus and private education. He has a powerful and optimistic vision for high quality comprehensive education.
No time to read a whole issue or even an article? Then perhaps our blogs will be of interest? Related to this debate, Nuala Burgess' blog, 'Failure by Admission' challenges some important assumptions. https://t.co/Kzl5s05Ix3
Want to tell the incoming Government what they should really do about education? Concerned about the workings of 'murky MATs'? Here's your opportunity to share your thinking and spark debate. Forum's call for papers for our Summer issue just released: https://t.co/Syrc3JWZhM
The FORUM Journal Editorial Board meets today - looking forward to discussing present and future issues and taking the journal forward. https://t.co/b5bjORrISo
