Passport Prime is an open platform.

You choose which apps live on your device and which permissions they receive. Every app runs in isolation, with its own memory and storage, so it cannot access or interfere with your other apps.

You don’t need to be a professional developer, or own a special dev unit to build something for yourself.

This community member used the latest SDK and KeyOS beta to build a Markdown editor and run it on their own Passport Prime.

Hey, two separate things are happening here.

The encrypted backup file holds your Passport Prime app data: account labels, settings, configuration, and app contents like your 2FA codes and security keys. It does not contain your master key. Passport Prime encrypts it on-device using a key derived from your master key, sends it to Envoy over QuantumLink, and Envoy uploads it to Foundation's servers. What we store is a blind encrypted file plus a hash, we can't decrypt it and have no idea what's inside.

Your master key is handled separately, and never leaves Passport Prime whole. It's split into three parts using Shamir Secret Sharing: two are written to your NFC Keycards, and the third is encrypted and held in your phone's secure element, backed up via iCloud Keychain or Android Auto-Backup. Any two of the three reconstruct it.

So to your last question directly: Envoy holds one share of three, not your keys. That share is useless on its own, and if you lose your phone entirely, your two Keycards recover everything without it.

The device does not connect to the internet, the guy above is referring to the setup, to setup the device you have to connect to our Envoy app to run through the security check via QuantumLink, after this you can disconnect any outside communications ie, NFC, QuantumLink Bluetooth, and use the device as you wish.
