In a city engulfed in smog, officials are busy chopping and trimming trees.

One tree was chopped, and about six were heavily trimmed on Eastern Express Highway (Near Mulund Checknaka East).

(The claims were made by some workers to our members).

Additionally, there were no notices put up on these trees.

In any case, it is CRIMINAL to chop even a leaf right now when the air pollution is so severe.

Thane's lakes belong to the public and the animals depending on them. Thane Municipal Corporation continues with its template with no public consultation. It's awful that the water is being filled with mud.

Amit, Aman and Ajay died in May 2019 as they were made to enter a septic tank in a society in Thane. It was the first case of Manual Scavenging which we were advocating for by constant follow ups.

The families were given compensation after 3 years.

TMC released the compensation only due to the court order under the petition filed by petitioners of Shramik Janta Sangh, Muse Foundation and the family.

The family of Suraj Madhvi, who passed away due to Manual Scavenging in Thane in 2022 was today handed Rs 10 lakh cheque as per the provisions of Manual Scavenging Act.
