Dr. Pretty Priyadarshini’s (@know_Dr_Pretty) journey through the SBI Youth for India Fellowship shows how health systems are shaped as much by communities as by institutions.

During her Fellowship, she designed and implemented PRAYAS, a community health initiative that encouraged women to engage more actively in conversations around safe motherhood, hygiene, and reproductive health, not just as beneficiaries, but as participants in change.

Today, she continues to contribute to India’s public health landscape through her work in the National Immunization Programme, carrying forward lessons rooted in lived realities.

This World Health Day, her journey reminds us that stronger health systems begin with understanding the communities they are meant to serve.
