At least 13 people were killed, including military officers, after a small plane crashed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Friday, September 25, according to local reports citing officials.

Footage from local journalist Edho Tungenu shows people crowding near the fiery wreckage of the aircraft after it plummeted to the ground in Kenge, the capital of Kwango Province.

According to Radio Okapi, Kwango’s Deputy Governor, Remy Saki, said the plane was flying from Kikwit to Kinshasa when the crash occurred.

Among the dead was Lieutenant-General Lucien-Rene Likulia Bakumi, the Auditor General of the country’s armed forces, along with other senior military officials and several civilians, BBC News reported.
