This is heroic Birmingham teen Layla Warren. The quick-thinking 14-year-old saved the life of a woman who stopped breathing on a city bus. Layla had been travelling home on the 101 bus from a friend’s birthday when she noticed the young woman collapse. She had suffered a complex epileptic seizure and had stopped breathing on-board. The bus driver had dialled 999, but "calm and courageous" Layla "seized control of the emergency" and performed CPR. Guided by the responder over the phone, the calm and collected teen managed to revive the 22-year-old woman ❤️
Emergency services said this heroic act helped keep the young woman alive until the paramedics reached the scene. The actions that Layla performed directly saved the woman's life. Layla has now been shortlisted for the 'Outstanding Young Citizen Award' by the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner. And we at BirminghamLive are absolutely blown away by her bravery and heroism. Well done Layla 👏
