GW2 🔒
No changes.
The fund is conserving its transfer allowance this week.
Underlying numbers from GW1 were encouraging.
No reason to overreact to short-term underperformance.
Strategy > short term noise

GW1 Recap
52 points | 43% overall
Not exactly the alpha generating start we were looking for.
Plenty to review but no knee-jerk changes. The season is a 38-game horizon.
Rome wasn’t built in a day.

GW1: LONG/SHORT
BUY: Thiago ✅
- Nailed
- Pens
- Low ownership
- Good fixtures
SELL: Joao Pedro ❌
- Fulham (A) and Arsenal (A) in first 3 GWS
- Rotation + early sub risk
- High ownership means price fall potential

I’m deploying the Bench Boost in GW1.
Not purely to maximise expected points.
There is a behavioural component - the Leader Effect.
If competitors feel they’re already behind, they may take greater risks to catch up - potentially leading to sub-optimal decisions.
GW1🔒
The portfolio is built.
The objective isn’t to be No.1 after GW1.
It’s to make sensible sensibles and consistently finish in the top quartile.
Diversification.
Capital allocation.
Multi avenues for points.
Value:
Grob, Ajer, O’Shea, Kinsky + Verbruggen
Their job is simple:
Provide reliable 3–4 point returns when called upon while preserving capital for higher-upside positions.
Alpha: Thiago + Ballard
Lower-owned positions where I see potential to materially outperform the market.
I don’t need every position to work. I just need some to.
Tactical: Mbeumo, Maguire, Le Fée
Favourable near-term fixtures create an opportunity for short-term alpha.
The plan is to capture the upside before reassessing and redeploying capital.
Core Holdings:
Haaland + Bruno.
Expensive assets, but elite quality with genuine captaincy potential.
These are the Fund’s cornerstone holdings.
The expectation is that both remain in the portfolio for the long term.
Paying a premium for quality is justified.
The FPL Fund - Investment Mandate
Objective:
Generate superior risk-adjusted returns over a 38-game investment horizon through active allocation of FPL capital.

Portfolio Flexibility:
The Fund will maintain sufficient flexibility to respond to material changes in market conditions, including injuries, rotation risk, fixture swings and changes in player roles.
Risk Management
The Fund will seek to minimise:
• Knee-jerk trading
• Emotional decision-making
• Excessive hits
• Short-term noise
Capital will only be redeployed where the investment thesis has materially changed or a superior opportunity has been identified.
