There’s a clear distinction between offering refuge to genuine refugees and accepting unmanaged, illegal entries. Helping genuine refugees is the right thing to do, but it should always happen through designated legal routes and official channels.
Paying thousands of pounds to people smugglers and risking life on small boats or in the back of lorries makes no logical sense when legal channels exist to be processed properly and at a fraction of the cost. Bypassing authorities like this undermines the whole legal system. Anyone who chooses to enter unlawfully via these dangerous routes shouldn't be permitted to remain—a fair system relies on order, rule of law, and zero tolerance for illegal entry.

We have all seen the drone footage,and know the media lies about the actual numbers.

Also the list below is only the arrest made there would have been so much more that got missed by police as there are too many people in a small area to police.

The Metropolitan Police made 560 total arrests across the two main days of the 2026 Notting Hill Carnival:
​Sunday (Family Day): 245 arrests (with an initial evening tally of 169 updated to 243, and slightly more by final processing).
​Monday (Adults' Day): 315 arrests.
​The Met Police noted that the higher number of arrests was due to a proactive policing approach, including extensive stop-and-searches (leading to 62 weapon seizures) and the expanded use of Live Facial Recognition technology, which directly led to 90+ arrests and condition checks on sex offenders.
​Previous Years for Comparison:
​2025: 528 arrests
​2024: 349 arrests

It is time to move the Carnival to a purpose-built, open venue—like Hyde Park or the Olympic Park—where proper perimeters, bag searches, ticket controls, and security measures can actually be managed. Moving it doesn't mean ending the culture; it means preserving human life and ensuring people can celebrate safely without placing an unfair burden on local residents, emergency services, and the police.
