Americans should not be forced to breathe hazardous air year after year because Canada refuses to properly manage its forests. This is no longer a one-time emergency—it’s becoming an annual public health crisis. That is unacceptable.

I am reaching out to Members of Parliament and the Canadian Ambassador to demand answers about the devastating impact Canada’s forest management failures are having on Western New York, the Southern Tier, and communities across the United States. Millions of Americans are paying the price for policies they had no role in creating.

Canada's inability to mitigate, contain, and prevent its wildfires must be addressed. These annual fires significantly harm not only our health and quality of life, but also our economic prosperity. I have discussed this situation with our Ambassador in Ottawa, Peter Hoekstra, and have personally reached out to Canadian government officials.

I call on the Canadian Government to fully and regularly inform appropriate US agencies such as the EPA as to the status and mitigation action plan regarding the fires.

I also encourage Canada to work with the US government to find concrete solutions to address their ongoing wildfire problems. Michiganders must stop paying the price for bad policy.

I lived in Quebec for eight years ... I love it. Everything about Quebec, but especially l'hiver.

One thing I learned about Quebec is that it is quite wonderfully parochial. It just does not care much about what the rest of the world is doing. Its always going to be dancing to its own tune, and that's great. I salute that. In today's world, ignorance really is bliss.

The problem is that we no longer live in 1995, and I am not sure that sovereignists in Quebec get that. Back in the heyday of America's magnanimous hegemony and globalization, it made sense for Quebec to become independent and simply melt into the world (as say, Slovenia did). Today, with the US openly invoking territorial expansion in North America, the moment has passed.

It was always adorable to me that my Quebecois friends would use the example of "what happened to the francophones of Louisiana" as the reason to secede from Canada. When it is precisely the reason to stay in Canada.

What's more likely? Quebec to lose its identity within Canada (we kind of have 300 years of evidence that it will not!) or within a North America whose borders are changing?

Let me be blunt to all the sovereignists out there: there is zero chance that this America lets you have your francophone/socialist paradise alongside St. Lawrence in a multipolar world. Zero. Not gonna happen. Non.

The future for Quebec is to redefine Canadian identity. To usurp it. It's Canadian to be francophone. Here, let me help:
