Bitcoin is fundamentally open source. Satoshi said it in the first sentence of the first (public) announcement of Bitcoin. Satoshi correctly realized that open source development is the only way to ensure Bitcoin stays decentralized, forever Laura.
Bitcoin mining is an important part of Bitcoin (to say the least), so how did it become top-to-bottom proprietary? Why do we allow this? Why are we sacrificing forward progress for the short term gains for a few?
If you’re working on closed source, proprietary Bitcoin mining, maybe stop and ask yourself why you don’t have a lower time preference?
We wouldn’t all be here talking about Bitcoin had Satoshi decided to keep it a secret and patent it. It would never have gotten this far. If you want to Bitcoin to still be a thing in another 15 years, find a way to open source your work.
Check out my interview with @My2Sats_ on the @HomeMiningPod! We talk about what Hashpool is and how it works. We also deep dive into ecash, mining pools, privacy, sovereignty, and how this tech stack could potentially reshape the world.

Recorded an absolute BANGER of an episode today with an incredible Bitcoin mining dev , Evan/VNPRC is the creator building https://t.co/JBdCJUf8Tz
This one was incredibly high signal and Hashpool will change the home mining landscape in massive ways.
Heres a preview.
How many of you know about what Hashpool is? Let us know in the comments.
Today, on the 6102 anniversary, we are kicking off the 2025 grant projects as a reminder that open-source code has enabled individuals with an asymmetric advantage against central control.
Here's how we are fulfilling our mission to dismantle the proprietary mining empire 🧵👇
The inaugural Proof-Of-Heat Twitter Spaces centered on the innovative repurposing of heat generated by Bitcoin mining.
https://t.co/Qa3CMfNXeH
Our convo introduces entrepreneurs and enthusiasts who share their projects and insights into this emerging field.
Topics explored range from DIY home heating solutions and commercial products like drop-in furnaces to creative applications such as heating 3D printer filament and large-scale greenhouse operations.
We also addressed economic factors influencing the viability of heat reuse, regulatory hurdles, and the potential for mainstream adoption.
We shared success stories, surprising challenges, and future visions for integrating mining heat into everyday life and diverse industries, highlighting a growing movement towards energy efficiency within the Bitcoin ecosystem.
We hope to foster a collaborative environment, exchanging ideas on technical feasibility, economic benefits, and overcoming barriers to wider implementation of Bitcoin mining heat reuse.
Take a listen!
sarcasm decoded: I think people who say Bitaxes don't contribute to the network because they don't (currently) find blocks very often are forgetting how Bitcoin mining works.

Bitcoin Mining Heat Recapture ≠ Hashrate Heating
Bitcoin Mining Heat Recapture:
Traditional mining operations. Sell heat to nearby demand. Industrial use... District heating... Can use existing Chinese miners, jailbreak firmware, centralized pools. Requires less innovation.
Hashrate Heating... AKA...
Electric Heating Bitcoin Recapture:
Integrating bitcoin mining into everyday heating appliances and devices for homes and small businesses. Drastically advances mining decentralization. All current solutions are retrofitted work arounds. Requires massive innovation and breaking the current mold.
Both are exciting. Both are massive markets - much larger than the current network.
But only one necessitates a complete shift in the entire industry. From supply chain and chip access to control, business models, certifications, standardization and more.
If you want to learn more about the difference, read my book that covers both use cases. Linked below.
Special shout out to the hardcode innovators in this space shaking up the status quo. @skot9000@256FOUNDATION@robertwarren@econoalchemist@protomining. And shout out to all the incredible hashrate heating system builders...

This is insane.
I’m throwing watts at this thing and the @CryoByteLabs block is stripping heat with bottom of the barrel PC water cooling components and PC fans.
This is the budget build 👀
