@FramingGender I have learned so much about the various conceptions of gender and sexuality in a part of the world I didn’t have any knowledge of prior. bismillah irahman irrahim, thank you for a great semester.
@FramingGender in finishing up this class, i am reflecting on how i began this class and the perspectives i gained since then over the last few months. i will continue to unpack and learn.
@FramingGender I will miss everyone and the respectful discussions we had in this class. To all the seniors congrats, and for those who are going to return have a great summer!
I was upset that I couldn’t make it to the last class, but I hope that everyone had a great last session. thank you all for a wonderful semester. I was glad to have come out of my comfort zone, and discuss many stories and topics relevant to my life in the ME. @FramingGender
I'm gonna miss this class and all the people in it. We had a good run, even with the apocalypse-pandemic breaking us up, and I know we're going to finish hot and continue being awesome. Thanks for being so great, and, as a wise man once said, stay golden pony boy. @FramingGender
I'm really enjoying the Final Presentations for class. There are a lot of movies and books that I hadn't heard of that I'm enjoying exploring. I just watched Brotherhood this morning.

I am so happy with my presentation. I would loveeeee to hear some thoughts and additions on it. It's about [Trump's] fear based rule shapes the way the US feels about brown refugees, especially post 9/11. Go take a look at it on Canvas before Thursday! @FramingGender
I am so glad I took this class and I really appreciate the supportive learning environment created by Dr. Thompson and my classmates. I feel much more confident in speaking to issues regarding gender in the Middle East now. Thank you! @FramingGender

Beginning to see everyone’s presentation has been really exciting to see what people have drawn from the class and the community we created. It’s nice to see people care about everyone’s individual presentation.
Even though my childhood and growing up was very different from Satrapi's, I found myself relating to her because as a first generation american, I also found myself getting caught between two cultures and lifestyles growing up. @FramingGender
Comics are the best medium for heavy topics. You get the imagery & heavy-ness of the violence & oppression, while maintaing a lighthearted & goofy feel. Emotion is expressed in a way text just can't. Also, by using it, it proves the legitimacy of the art form. @FramingGender
@FramingGender I am excited for the upcoming student presentations! After going into different breakout rooms with people introducing their topics, there seems to be a wide variety of content that are going to be covered.
I thought it was interesting how much the feminisms/experiences between Persepolis & Butler's reading juxtaposed each other. Lucky to be in a major with such wide range, it's interesting how from the outside many would think WGST is narrow/only has one agenda. @FramingGender

Although this image is about freedom of press, it reminds me of many of the issues we’ve discussed about each of our readings. Each author has wanted to share a message that more often than not was ignored initially only to ignore the problem they were addressing
I'm working on creating a MENA (mixed with some Western dance and culture) resource list for my dance community. What are some of your favorite resources? Fiction or Non-fiction. Here's what I have so far.
