We @NaturalEngland need better pay & terms to recruit & retain the skilled people necessary for a wildlife rich future. No one works in ecology or the public sector for the money but we do need to live & feel our work is valued. #ProspectStrike
We are striking in Norwich today for fair pay at Natural England , it is the poorest paid body in DEFRA - if you value the environment, then value us #ProspectStrike@prospect_NE@ProspectUnion
This is our picket at the Norwich Natural England office!
NE is the leading public body tackling the climate and environmental crises, the most pressing issues of our time - yet our pay far from reflects this... 🌱
Welcome to #MythBuster Mondays, where every Monday for the rest of 2022 we break down a common myth about field work!
Today’s Myth: You can point out a field biologist by the way they look.
Truth: Field biologists come in all ages, shapes, sizes, races, genders, & styles!
An absolutely superb comment from Prof Tom. Nails it not just from the perspective of landscape history but from a cultural perspective also. Our conservation choices are not binary, we have to work with all traditions and without doubt hybrid solutions are the way forward.
It’s #WorldWildlifeDay2022 & this years theme is 'Recovering key species for #Ecosystem restoration'
#Beavers are 1 of the species dominating this conversation across the UK with 3,198 responses to @DefraGovUK 's ‘Beaver #reintroduction and management in England’ consultation!
Happy #WomenInScience Day!
Let’s smash stereotypes, defy gender bias and defeat discrimination that holds women and girls back in Science, Tech, Engineering and Math.

On the look out for #ornithology#vacancies?
We have two exciting roles that sit in the heart of strategic & ambitious projects, driving improvement of #protectedsites & #conservation of internationally important #wetland#birds🦆

Challenging our conservation thinking. Do we confront our engrained objectives frequently enough? Can the mighty north Norfolk coast offer even more to wildlife?
Great summary of #biodiversityaudit by friends at #uea. @j_gilroy1@PaulDolman3@NENorfolkSufflk @NorfolkAONB
Thanks so much to @N_Rivers_Trust and the Wendling Beck Exemplar Project Team for an interesting & informative talk & walk around the project area. A wonderful example of @NaturalEngland working in partnership for #NatureRecovery

A beautiful morning on Hayling Island marred by the sight of litter all over the spits. Not only unsightly, but dangerous to the birds who use them for roosting. Mostly looks to be washed in by the tide & 99% plastic. Please reduce plastic use and recycle/dispose of responsibly💚
The #RedKite was a globally threatened #species and by 1980 their numbers in the UK had reduced to just a few breeding pairs in Wales 🦅🪶
The #reintroduction of red kites is a real #conservation success story in which @NaturalEngland played a key role!
