Photographic artist from Orkney, based in Glasgow. My photobook, ‘Undertow’, about my project to walk the coastlines of Orkney, is published by @AP__books
Remember last year when I made a call-out for stories of the Orkney island of Eynhallow?
I was commissioned by @grainne_gms on behalf of @HistEnvScot to create a folklore-memory map. I'm pleased to say this is now on show in an exhibition entitled 'In the Land, of the People'.
A pleasure to think and write about @KathleenJamie’s latest collection, Cairn, for @paperboatswrite.
This book alongside several others of Jamie’s, prose and poetry, are on the shelves in Irvine (and will be heading elsewhere soon too).
There are still two weeks to visit 'In The Land, Of The People' at Fort George, before it travels to Perth in July. The show focusses on Scottish folklore and includes my handwritten folklore-memory map of the island of Eynhallow.

This is super, a great way of tying people and their stories to place, and the similarity to the to & fro of waves is a lovely visual metaphor. We need more of this!
@HistEnvScot The exhibit will then move to Stanley Mills in Perth from 6 July-29 September 2024. If anyone has a suitable venue in Orkney, it would be great to see the show heading northwards at some point in the future! @OrkneyMuseums@orkneycom@OrkneyLibrary@OrkneyStoF
Please share - I'd like to hear your stories, memories, facts, thoughts and myths about the Orkney island of Eynhallow.
These tales and observations will be gathered together to make a new handwritten map of the island for @HistEnvScot this month.

Wreckage of an ancient ship found on an Orkney beach may have been buried under the sand for centuries until, like Skara Brae, it’s been uncovered by winter storms. Thanks to Sanday resident Jonathan Hines for this video.
