This Dreamline tragedy raises a very important question.
We launched a National Ambulance Dispatch Centre and 922 emergency service barely two months ago. Today, reports say police Land Cruisers had to ferry injured passengers because ambulances at the scene were insufficient.
Forget launch ceremonies for a minute. Did the system activate? How long did response take? How many ambulances were dispatched?
Because the real test of an emergency system is not the launch - it is the day Kenyans actually need it.
