The Moon does not have a global magnetic field like Earth does. Earth’s magnetic field is generated by its liquid iron core, creating a protective magnetosphere.
The Moon:
* Does not currently have a global magnetic field.
* Has small areas of magnetized rock in its crust called magnetic anomalies. These are leftovers from billions of years ago, when the Moon may have had a stronger magnetic field.
* Interacts with the solar wind but doesn’t create a large magnetic shield around itself.
@Noudon47 A magnetic field is the invisible region around a magnet or a moving electric charge where magnetic forces can act on other magnets, magnetic materials, or moving charged particles.
For a stationary charge: only an electric field exists.
For a moving charge: the electric field exists first, and the motion gives rise to a magnetic field.
For light or other electromagnetic waves: neither comes first; the electric and magnetic fields are inseparable parts of the same wave.
