A lot of people are hating on “woke” governments right now (& I understand—I’m no fan of Californian democrats) but failing to do what’s necessary to prevent fires is certainly not limited to woke politicians.
Controlled burning of bushes/forests is what prevents catastrophic bushfires/wildfires. But governments often avoid doing them due to air quality concerns. To do controlled burning in LA would cover the entire city in a blanket of smoke. (I live in an area in Sydney which is often covered in smoke due to back burning before summer—it’s not pleasant and residents always complain.)
The hesitation to do what needs to be done crosses ideological lines—it’s rare to find governments who will sacrifice public comfort for long term concerns, and politicians who do often get voted out.
I get that it’s easy to blame wokeness in this situation, but you’ll find governments that are not woke doing the exact same thing. The issue is lack of long term planning & courage to do things which voters don’t like.
Honest question. Why are so many Free Palestine accounts silent about the successful operation to rescue the hostages?
Is it because you support kidnapping if it helps your political project?
Is it the same reason you want Biden’s peace plan to fail?
Do you want an end to bloodshed? Or do you want Israel destroyed?
We cannot search for the #truth and for the way out of suffering without the freedom to think, investigate, and experiment. Humans should always retain the #freedom to doubt, to check again, to hear a second opinion, to try a different path.
@Utopianluvr@BillTieleman@Dave_Eby I’m going to take a punt and say that you have no skin in this game. That aside, your comments are completely off base in mentioning my appearance. My family fled Iraq, and Australia wouldn’t accept them because they weren’t white enough. So perhaps speak for yourself.
@Lidsville@VoteYYJWilliams The instructor should never have been reinstated in the first place. An educator at openly supporting a terrorist organization is cool with you?
@jonsneyers@michaelasachs@Joe_Roberts01 Are they representing a multitude of viewpoints? I cannot read minds either, but I see limited diversity in interviewees, which inherently skews the bias leading readers and viewers to believe that those are the mainstream Jews. When evidence runs to the contrary.
@jonsneyers@michaelasachs@Joe_Roberts01 That would be fine, so long as it were presented as such. Instead, a smattering of the same fringe dwellers do the rounds, and often they are presented as somehow representative of Canadian Jews as a group. It’s deceptive and not balanced.
