#MofaUpdate🔔: 🇺🇬|🇩🇪 Day 5 of the Germany–Uganda Coffee Origin Tour 🇩🇪🇺🇬 concluded at JOKISA Mixed Farm in Kabonera Sub-County, near Masaka City- a remarkable model of Uganda’s hybrid Robusta coffee production system. ☕🌱
Led by farmer Ssalongo Kigozi John, the 120-acre plantation, projected to expand to 180 acres by 2026, showcased the strength of Uganda’s smallholder coffee ecosystem under the Kabonera Robusta Community cooperative.
I joined fellow Ministers and High Representatives of the main African coffee-producing countries, at first edition of the High-Level Meeting convened to lay the foundations of a Regional Coffee Value Chain in Marakech, Morocco.
This meeting expressed our collective resolve, our shared vision and our deep commitment to the sustainable development of the coffee sector as a pillar of agricultural prosperity, enhancement of rural livelihoods and regional economic integration in Africa.
We note that, although Africa produces a significant share of the world's coffee, it continues to capture a limited share of its value, due in particular to the majority export of unprocessed green coffee, often without traceability, standardization and recognized certification, thus limiting access to high value-added markets.
It's time we hold hands as Africans to fully exploit the potential in this green gold.
Thank you Africa Coffee hub for this futuristic idea.

#MofaUpdate🔔: 🇺🇬|🇩🇪 Day 3 of the Germany Familiarisation Tour commenced with a field visit to Mountain Harvest coffee farm, under the stewardship of Mr. Kenneth Barigye.
Led by Amb. Mubiru, the delegation has experienced Uganda’s renowned Arabica coffee celebrated globally for its premium quality and distinctive flavor while gaining hands-on insights into meticulous post-harvest handling and drying processes that ensure consistency and excellence.
Spanning 203 hectares, Mountain Harvest stands as a model of modern, sustainable coffee production.
I thank God for this victory and for all the victories He has given us over the last 55 years since 1971. We have been in the struggles for a long time and God has always granted us success.
In this new Kisanja, I encourage Members of Parliament to support the budget by putting the livelihoods of our people first rather than increasing salaries or creating more districts. Their focus should be to start with the Parish Development Model and wealth funds.
Today, I chaired the final Cabinet meeting of the outgoing government and later hosted members to a luncheon in appreciation of their dedicated service to our country. This is the Cabinet that ushered Uganda into middle-income status, and I thank everyone who contributed to this achievement, including the Cabinet Secretariat for effectively managing the business of cabinet.
I thank them all and wish them good luck.
Germany remains among the top three importers of Ugandan coffee, underscoring a strong and mutually beneficial partnership.
With around 800 coffee roasters serving 84M people, each consuming an average of three cups daily, the scale of opportunity is significant.
The focus now: how can Uganda increase its share in this market? This visit aims to deepen partnerships and unlock greater value across the coffee value chain.
