50 years ago today!
The Queen Street fire of 1974 was very large incident, lasting for two days and consuming most of the 300 and 400 blocks of Queen Street. Power was knocked out to much of the downtown and between 60 and 80 people displaced.

The Fredericton Fire Department remembers Firefighter William Anderson, who was killed in the line of duty at a fire on York Street on this date in 1865.
The Fredericton Fire Department remembers Captain Benny Kerton who died 48 years ago.
On January 26, 1976, Captain Kerton and his crew responded to a structure fire on Regent Street. Benny, who didn't feel well during the procedure, died of a heart attack the next day.
The Fredericton Fire Department takes time to reflect on the life and contributions of Fire Inspector Jeff Mack who passed away yesterday.
He served with five different Fire Departments in his fire service career, including more than 20 with the FFD.
