This past weekend, as I officiated the Alliance for Progressives Leadership Forum at Majestic Five Hotel in Palapye, I was reminded that the journey of building the New Botswana is not one for individuals, but one that calls each of us to serve together with purpose, humility, and unwavering resolve.

This forum has given us an opportunity to pause, reflect, and refresh our minds and spirits. We have reaffirmed our shared vision of building a New Botswana, which is a nation that will stand as a paragon of nation-building, prosperity, and hope on the African continent. That vision has always been rooted in listening to our people, and we must continue walking alongside Batswana, consulting them and working together to uplift every community, including those that have too often been forgotten or considered too far away.

Our nation is facing difficult economic times, and we openly acknowledge the challenges before us, including those affecting healthcare and education. Yet I remain filled with hope. We have already demonstrated that together we can overcome adversity. As an example, our foreign reserves, once projected to be depleted by June 2026, have remained resilient at around P50 billion. We continue to pursue lasting reforms through consultation, including the Tax Pitso, Youth Pitso and Budget Pitso, while advancing initiatives such as National Health Insurance and policies that strengthen access to affordable healathcare.

As a movement, we must never lose sight of the values that define us: honesty, fairness, respect, service to our people, consultation, and the commitment to encourage and build one another. Leadership is earned through service, discipline, learning, and integrity. We must invest in developing leaders who have demonstrated commitment to their communities and strengthen our movement by reinstating effective SWAT teams across our structures to ensure we remain organised, responsive, and connected to the people we serve.

I know that many have sacrificed greatly in the pursuit of the New Botswana, and some have grown discouraged along the way. I hear you, I value you, and I care deeply for this movement and, above all, for the people of Botswana. Despite every obstacle we face, I remain convinced that our country will rise and become an envy of nations.

My heartfelt gratitude goes to every member who has walked this journey with us. Let us continue standing together, protecting the vision we have nurtured, serving with courage, and never losing faith in what we can achieve as one people.

I truly believe that one day, together, we will dance and smile as a nation. May God continue to guide us, shine His light upon our path, and strengthen each of us as we build the New Botswana.

Please continue to keep my grandma in your prayers. She is still in the hospital after falling on June 23 and breaking her femur and my Mama just told me they found blood clots in both her legs. She’s 88 and I’m really worried about her.

It was a delight welcoming the learners of Chadibe Primary School to the Office of the Vice President.

We spoke about ambition.
We spoke about discipline.
We spoke about honesty.
We spoke about the courage to keep going, even when others doubt us.

These values shape character and create the foundation for success.

The learners were encouraged not to let doubt determine how far they can go.

The dedication of Chadibe Primary School’s teachers was equally inspiring. Despite limited infrastructure and a shift system, the school continues to achieve strong results.

To the learners, keep dreaming, keep learning and keep showing up. The future is built one disciplined choice at a time.

Remembering Dr. Micus

Yesterday, we remembered Dr. Micus Chimbombi. A man of character who embodied peace and humility, while possessing deep knowledge. A farmer, a family man, a spiritual leader and one of the key crafters of the UDC manifesto. It could only be through these special attributes, that with him, a new government would be realized.

Though only weeks into his role as Minister of Lands and Agriculture, he wasted no time. He led with a clear purpose. His first assignment, leading the reform of the Botswana Meat Commission, a reform farmers have already started to experience. Though his time as Minister was short-lived, his footprints remain etched.

To his family, friends, the people of Makopong, Kgalagadi South, fellow BNF comrades and the nation at large, may you find comfort, and healing in his legacy. He rests.🙏
