What is Hantavirus ?

Hantavirus: A rodent-borne virus that can be deadly. Carried by mice/rats (no symptoms in them), spreads via inhaling dust from their urine, droppings, or saliva.

Rare person-to-person transmission (mostly Andes strain).

Causes 2 main diseases:
HPS (Americas): Flu-like; severe lung fluid & heart failure (up to 40% fatal)

HFRS (Europe/Asia): Kidney failure & bleeding

Early signs: fever, muscle aches, headache, nausea.

Then breathing trouble or kidney issues. No vaccine or cure, supportive ICU care is key.

Prevention = rodent-proof your space & safe cleaning (wet down droppings, mask up!).Rare but serious.

Avoid wild rodents. If flu symptoms after rodent exposure see doctor ASAP.

Stay safe.
