We are thrilled that Kai is on his way home along with @freemarkswidan and John Leung.
Thank you, @POTUS, and everyone that made this day possible at long last. Please keep bringing them home.
After 12 long years of suffering, Mark is finally back home. He needs our help to rebuild his life after unimaginable trauma. Please consider donating and sharing his story. https://t.co/Wledesjky4
Thank you @RepTomSuozzi for your advocacy to bring Kai home.
We are looking forward to working with you and other members to further deter hostage diplomacy and compensate the victims.
For eight long years, my constituent Kai Li was unjustly imprisoned in China—separated from his family, his home, and his freedom. I’m proud to have helped bring him back, and even more grateful for the chance to stand by him as he rebuilds his life here in America.
We are their families - they are our detained loved ones.
Our campaign is comprised entirely of the families of Americans held hostage or wrongfully detained overseas. Our ask is simple:
Today, and every day, we ask you to remember our loved ones and help us #BringThemHome 🇺🇸
Glad that Kai's detention did not stretch past yet another holiday season.
Thank you, @SenMarcoRubio for your advocacy for Kai over the years. We hope you will continue to #BringThemHome as SecState under @realDonaldTrump.
This week marked Kai Li’s 8th year since he was wrongfully detained by the regime in Beijing.
His crime: being a Chinese-American businessman. We must continue to call for his immediate release. #ExpressionNotOppression
Spoke to Mark Swidan, Kai Li, and John Leung as they traveled home to the United States just in time for Thanksgiving. I told them how glad I was that they were in good health and that they’ll soon be reunited with their loved ones.
For the families of those Americans newly freed by the Chinese government, this Thanksgiving there is so much to be thankful for.
After nearly a decade of imprisonment by the Chinese government, Kai Li is finally on his way back to American soil and to freedom. Over the years, I have worked closely with Mr. Li’s son, Harrison, to speak directly to the highest levels of the Chinese and U.S. governments to advocate for Mr. Li’s release and safe return to his family in Huntington, New York.
Even when it felt like there was no hope, we never stopped believing that one day Mr. Li would return home.
Soon, Kai Li will finally be reunited with his family because President Biden and his Administration also kept the faith and never stopped working to secure Mr. Li’s release and the release of other Americans wrongfully detained by the Chinese government. President Biden’s personal engagement with President Xi made this joyous day possible. Thanks to President Biden, all wrongfully detained Americans held in the People's Republic of China will soon be home.
I look forward to welcoming Mr. Li back home to New York very soon.
After years of working with family, the administration, and human rights advocates, we got the incredible news this morning that my constituient Kai Li is returning home from wrongful imprisonment in China. Kai was taken into custody during a 2016 visit to China to commemorate the one-year anniversary of his mother’s death. He was arrested, sentenced during a one-hour secret trial on sham “espionage” charges, and had been subject to painful conditions and deteriorating health since. At long last, he is returning home to his family.
I have been inspired by the courageous work of Kai’s son, Harrison, who has been a tireless advocate for his father in unimaginably difficult circumstances. The Li family will finally be whole for Thanksgiving.
Thank you to @POTUS and all involved in this effort. I look forward to personally welcoming Kai home in the coming weeks.
"The release of Kai Li and Mark Swidan must remain a diplomatic priority."
Thank you @CECCgov for this letter to @POTUS.
He does not have much time left to #FinishTheJob, but we need him to do so before the chaos of another admin transition.
#BringThemHome
Chairs ask @POTUS to meet with families of Americans detained in China and urge him to be a tenacious advocate for #KaiLi, #MarkSwidan, Nelson Wells Jr., Dawn Michelle Hunt, among others, in the last months of his Presidency.

The US Congressional-Executive Commission on China has once again cited our podcast interview with Harrison Li in their 2023 Annual Report released on 10 May 2024. Harrison is the son of American citizen Kai Li held in China @FreeKaiLi

Welcome home, David Lin.
We are thrilled to see @POTUS's leadership in finally bringing home an American citizen from China.
Now we need him to #FinishTheJob to bring Kai home too - before another admin change resets the bilateral relationship.
#FreeKaiLi#BringThemHome
CHM @RepMcCaul: “I am extremely glad to hear David Lin was freed from his 17 year-long wrongful imprisonment by the CCP. His capture, like so many others, marks a rising trend of hostage diplomacy by authoritarians around the world. However, Kai Li and Texan Mark Swidan still remain CCP prisoners—and must be freed now.”
Thank you, @SenMarcoRubio.
Let’s put together a bipartisan coaliation to #FreeKaiLi before the end of @POTUS’s admin.
No matter who wins the election, there will be a change of president and a long dead period in resolving these issues as we know too well.
This week marked Kai Li’s 8th year since he was wrongfully detained by the regime in Beijing.
His crime: being a Chinese-American businessman. We must continue to call for his immediate release. #ExpressionNotOppression
Today marks 8 years since Kai Li was wrongfully detained in China.
We call upon @POTUS to finally respond to his family's meeting requests and @FreeKaiLi along with all other wrongful detainees before the end of his term.
@JakeSullivan46#BringThemHome
Thank you, @RepLaLota, for sending this letter to @JakeSullivan46.
We hope he will take you up on your request for an update now that he has returned from China.
Thank you, @RepTomSuozzi, for calling on @JakeSullivan46 to update our family after his trip to China next week - we look forward to it.
Kai has suffered almost 8 years now.
@POTUS can make it right by bringing him home. He's showed the world what's possible - no more excuses.
