If you haven't seen it already, go check out the interview I did with author R. A. Consell, author of the Stealing from Wizards series. His books are well written, funny, and impactful. I highly recommend them!

Your reader's immersion in your story is as important as your plot. Do they identify or sympathize with your protagonist? Does the antagonist or situation call to something inside them? One of the ways to build immersion is to craft just the right level of detail. Help your reader feel like they're in the scene, not just reading about it. But be careful not to over-describe things. Unless it's a mystery, your reader might not need to know about the broken pencil lying on a desk that's never referenced again.
When you're starting a new book, think of the document as an empty stage. Like the director of a play, use the available elements to set your stage. As you write your outline, add these elements to the outline to help you visualize your story as it progresses. #writing #speculaivefiction #editing #settingthestage #freelanceedits
Do you listen to music while you write? 🎶Music can fuel creativity and balance. Choose the right jam for your type of writing to help your vibe and mood flow. Try some smooth jazz for a cozy mystery, or some mellow electronica for cyberpunk or space epic. Remember, though, that volume matters and music or ambient sounds that are too loud can hinder, rather than help. Think gentle background tavern, not rock concert. Stop trying to save the world! 🛑
In Cozy Fantasy, a ruined batch of enchanted muffins is a bigger tragedy than a dark overlord. Focus on low-stakes emotional wins and let your characters live in their world, not just survive it. 🌿

Stop expecting an Opening Night standing ovation from a messy first rehearsal. 🎭✨
Your first draft is allowed to have broken lights and missing lines. It's the "rehearsal" phase where you find the heart of the story.
Finish the act, take a "Dark Day" break, and then let’s get to work. 🛡️📖
The $99 Lore-Check Special is here to audit your production. We’ll hunt down the logic gaps and continuity glitches so your second draft is set for a sell-out run. 🎲

Easter eggs aren't just for kids and video games! Reveal a detail so deeply buried it requires a DC 20 Perception check, framing it as a piece of subtle "stage business" that foreshadows the climax long before the final curtain call.
Trend to follow: Hand-painted book covers. Much like the hand-painted backdrops that lend tangible magic to a community theatre set, a bespoke cover acts as a "Natural 20" on a Charisma check, signaling to readers that your world-building is a legendary item.
Frame your writer’s block as a high-stakes encounter and roll for initiative, letting the D20 dictate a sudden improvisational shift in your scene’s blocking. This creative skill check bypasses the inner critic, turning a stagnant draft into a critical hit!
@FedEx can you seriously not train your drivers better? I'm getting really damn tired of my packages not being left at the front door and sometimes being THROWN across my driveway. Or left in the middle of the driveway.
