Her owner is Maria Grant, a mother in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

About three weeks ago, Maria heard a knock at the door just before 9 p.m.

She opened it and was immediately struck in the head.

"He's just hitting me over the head with a hammer, and all I'm feeling is the hits and then the waves of blood coming down my face and he didn't stop," Maria told WCCO.

She knew the man. He had done yard work for her.

He had walked her dog.

That night, she says, he showed up wearing a wig.

Maria was on the floor, bleeding, when he turned toward the staircase.

Her young children were asleep upstairs.

That is when Athena went lunged at the man.

"She was biting him," Maria said. "And I could see the bl00d coming out of his legs from his jeans."

He never made it up the stairs.

According to charging documents, he fled the scene and showed up at a hospital... with dog bite wounds.

Maria ended up with SIX STAPLES in her head, but thankfully her children slept through the whole thing.

"This is the closest I've ever been to de*th," Maria said.

"I'm grateful she was there... I don't think I'd be here without her. I think I'll be laying over there on the floor."

The man is now charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, and there is an active warrant out for him.

Maria is healing. Her kids are safe.

And a 7-year-old pit bull did what she was born to do.

🚨Pennsylvania has CONVICTED a black man, Marson Weh, of first-degree m*rder in the 11-wound st*bbing of a white 15-year-old, Michael Garr.

A Delaware County jury returned the verdict Thursday after about 30 minutes. Weh, 26, of Clifton Heights, was also found guilty of possessing an instrument of crime.

Garr was a sophomore at Upper Darby High School. He was walking home from his girlfriend’s house on the 200 block of Bridge Street in Drexel Hill on April 21, 2023.

Prosecutors said Weh followed him for more than a mile on camera, then st*bbed and slashed him 11 times. A forensic pathologist testified one wound to the throat severed his trachea.

A driver who came up Bridge Street about a minute later said Garr ran to the car with his hands on his throat and could not speak. Blood sprayed when he moved his hands.

District Attorney Tanner Rouse told jurors the two had ��no earthly connection.” No motive was established.

Garr’s blood was on Weh’s clothing. Rouse told the jury the folding knife still had the boy’s blood down in the handle.

Weh had been wanted in Ohio on as$ault and stolen-vehicle charges. He pleaded guilty there and took 9½ years before Pennsylvania brought him back.

Police also tied him to a February 2023 st*bbing of a PREGNANT WOMAN at Bishop Hill Apartments in Upper Darby. That attempted-m*rder case is set for next month.

At the defense table Wednesday, a microphone caught Weh saying, “I am the k*ller of Michael Garr. I am, in fact, guilty.”

First-degree m*rder in Pennsylvania carries life without parole. Sentencing is set for November.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt said, “Justice finally caught up to the monster who stole Michael’s life.”

Police say a Tennessee man RIPPED an air conditioner out of a 10-year-old girl’s bedroom window, dragged her into the woods, tied her to a tree with his belt, held a knife to her throat and threatened to rape her.

And this little girl FOUGHT TO SURVIVE.

She managed to escape and ran for help — only for police to say 30-year-old Steven Devonte Harris caught her again and began CHOKING her.

Then someone started honking and yelling for help.

Her aunt came outside carrying a SPIKED BAT.

Harris allegedly ran.

Investigators say DNA evidence recovered from the area helped link Harris to the attack. He now faces charges including especially aggravated kidnapping and attempted rape of a child.

And there’s MORE.

Harris had previously been accused in a case involving the sexual assault of a 95-YEAR-OLD WOMAN. He was not convicted of rape in that case; authorities say he ultimately pleaded to aggravated assault and served a 4½-year sentence.

This 10-year-old girl showed an unbelievable amount of courage.

And thank God for the people who heard her cries and came running. 🙏

A hit-and-run driver who killed an Uber Eats courier as she stood outside her car making a delivery has been given a four-year prison sentence.
