Every VR headset from Apple Vision Pro to Meta Quest, and every LCD screen displaying ChatGPT, relies on the polarization physics that Maxwell formalized in 1865.
An independent educator just released a 20-minute walkthrough of how polarization actually works, including quarter wave plates. Publicly free.

🚨 QUANTUM COMPUTING MAY BE LEAVING THE FREEZER
Quantum technology usually needs extremely cold temperatures to work. But researchers have created a tiny gold-and-glass quantum chip that can operate at room temperature.
The breakthrough could help make future quantum devices smaller, simpler, and easier to build. But it’s important to note: this is not yet a full room-temperature quantum computer.
Could quantum technology one day sit on your desk?

Elon Musk’s January 6 Moonshots podcast prediction of 100x gains in intelligence at a fixed model size was at the edge of plausibility when made, now it’s simply a fact. What next?
🚨 You’re not the same person you were 10 minutes ago.
Your body is constantly regenerating itself. New cells are made, and old ones are discarded.
Every 7 to 10 years, you get a completely new body with new sets of organs and tissues. Your stomach regenerates itself every 4 days. The stomach cells that help you digest food are replaced every 5 minutes.
You get a new liver every 150 days. The entire outer layer of your skin, called the epidermis, replaces itself every 4 weeks. Your pancreas, which helps regulate your blood sugar level, is renewed every 50 days.
And every 4 months, you get a new set of red blood cells across your entire body. Even after you donate blood, it would only take 12 weeks to completely replace the red blood cells you donated. Your taste buds that help you enjoy a variety of foods are replaced every 10 days. Although cells are always regenerating, the process can be slow for some parts. Bones, for instance, require up to 10 years to fully regenerate.
As we age, bone regeneration slows down and our bones become weaker. Despite this incredible regeneration capacity of the human body, some parts of your body are never replaced, such as the cells that make up the inner lens in your eyes and the neurons in your cerebral cortex.
Fat can also accumulate and stick around depending on your diet and physical activity. Even though everything in your body is replaced, the only thing that remains of you is your consciousness, self-awareness and memories. As I said, your taste buds are replaced every 10 days, but the memory of the delicious food you tasted before is still there, and new taste buds are ready to experience it.

“Every living being is an engine geared to the wheelwork of the universe. Though seemingly affected only by its immediate surrounding, the sphere of external influence extends to infinite distance.”

🚨 A GEL THAT COULD HELP DAMAGED NERVES GROW BACK?
Imagine a simple injection helping damaged nerves reconnect and restore lost function. It sounds like science fiction—but MIT researchers have been developing injectable hydrogel technologies designed to support tissue repair and nerve regeneration.
The gel can be injected into the body and form a supportive environment where cells and nerve fibers may grow. Other MIT research has also found that biological and physical signals can significantly increase nerve growth in laboratory studies.
But there’s an important catch: there is no evidence that an MIT injectable gel currently restores sensation “completely” in humans. These technologies are still being developed and tested.
The future of nerve repair may be closer than we think.

The FDA just upgraded its egg recall to its most urgent risk classification, as a multistate salmonella outbreak has already hospitalizes dozens.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has escalated its recall of over 19 million eggs to Class I, the highest-risk classification reserved for situations where contaminated products could lead to severe health consequences or death.
The decision follows a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis that has already infected at least 98 people across 17 states, resulting in 26 hospitalizations. Produced by Midwest Poultry Services at Texas farms, the white and brown cage-free eggs were sold under popular brand names including Kroger, Simple Truth, Brookshire’s, Country Morning, and Cal-Maine Sunups.
Consumers are urged to immediately inspect their refrigerators for affected cartons, which feature best-by or sell-by dates ranging from July 20 to August 17, 2026, alongside plant codes P-1950 or 0840962 and Julian dates between 157 and 184. The recalled eggs were distributed primarily in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, with retail sales also reaching Arkansas, Mississippi, and New Mexico. Health officials advise discarding these eggs immediately or returning them for a full refund, cautioning that Salmonella-contaminated food can look and smell completely normal while posing serious health risks, particularly to young children and the elderly.

Perf win of the day: Claude Code CLI now uses 2x less CPU at p99.
Bun's garbage collector was running on a fixed timer, so it would kick in mid-turn and steal CPU right when Claude Code was busiest. Now it waits until the process is idle.
The human mind holds incredible power over the body. Studies from the American Physiological Society reveal that simply imagining yourself lifting weights can increase muscle strength by over 13%. This remarkable effect shows that mental practice alone can activate the same neural pathways used during physical training. Visualization strengthens the connection between thought and movement, turning focused intention into measurable results. Truly, the mind doesn’t just guide the body — it empowers it.
