Has anyone on this thread accepted that the “tiny knife” got plunged into a woman minutes before who immediately DIED?? A kitchen knife to the belly is as fatal as a bullet and sometimes more. And people who are advocating to “shoot her in the leg” have clearly never aimed a pistol. Cops are trained for center mass in unpredictable situations because it is almost impossible to hit an arm or leg. More people would get hurt in the crossfire from a hail of missed shots. The cops did what they were trained to do when confronting a deadly threat to themselves and citizens pure and simple. This was a textbook takedown and they prevented more people from dying yesterday.

Exactly. Those civilians were well meaning but putting Ryder and the victim in mortal danger. NEVER interfere with a trained lifeguard rescue - ALWAYS try to find more lifeguards to assist. This kid did exactly what he was trained to do from the perfect duck dives to the wrap to telling the civilians to get the hell back on the beach. HERO

One element people are missing is how dangerous it is when civilians try to help. You could see PERFECT technique when Ryder was duck diving under waves while the civilians were getting rocked. If you see a lifeguard making a rescue the best thing you can do is book it to every stand and scream for backup from other guards. SO much training goes into what that kid did and the average person doesn’t realize how fatal it can be to interfere.
