Imo, that’s actually part of a larger trend: online casinos, ‘prediction’ markets, buy now pay maybe, etc.
People our age feel that the world no longer moves in a deterministic way. So we play the odds.
And more people start companies.

Because you realise how self centered we all are and it can become a vicious circle.

If you have a founder friend, check in on them once in a while.
They’re pros at pretending everything is fine for family, employees, investors, and partners.
They’ll appreciate it more than you think.

I love reasoning in bets for every decision I make (even going early to the airport or not).
But I still believe the insurance system is really different as it primarily involves a potential asymmetric bet. From an individual standpoint, you’re not just engaging your chips for the pot, but maybe a much larger amount, and you’re not even aware of that number.
And I won’t say that’s BR management because it can be higher than your BR.
