That requires effort on our parts, a decision to act in faith, not just proclaim it.

@STL_Shooter @justin_hart @EWErickson Look, I agree that Christ is the only way we can be justified, for we are all sinners. But He gave us commandments for a reason, and you have to ask why.
I believe it’s because He wants us to be sanctified also (become as He). I will show you my faith by my works.

Man, you really don’t understand the law or the gospel, do you?

Romans 4:1-6

@STL_Shooter @justin_hart @EWErickson Good try. All of this is in direct connection with Jesus teaching behavior. Righteous living. And an evil tree (or prophet) CANNOT bring forth good fruit. Again, read the whole chapters and don’t cherry pick verses.

@justin_hart @Lew541207 I use this argument all the time! Where is the theological litmus test that Christ gave the thief on the cross? In that same regard, why did He forgive the pagan soldiers who crucified Him, but will condemn me (a sincere follower of His) to burn in Hell for eternity?

What does He say is the fate of those who simply say, “Lord, Lord?”
