Malding aside, let's talk about MCH's place in the game.
The MCH buff is about 2-2.5%. Not nearly enough for a selfish phys-ranged to keep up with its competition (brd/dnc) as is usual. Buff jobs benefit from the power of 7 others in the group and MCH cannot keep up with that unless it's given a raid buff of its own, therefore putting us on par with the other 2 and people can just pick and choose based on utility. It's boring, but that's the only real solution now. Clearly they are still scared of ranged tax so we'll never be given enough potency to hold our own. A self-buff would work too perhaps.
Our AoE kit is now in even more shambles. On DT release, Auto-crossbow was only a gain on 5+, and that's now looking to be 6+ since they didn't touch it and instead buffed Double-Check/Checkmate (which are STILL not refreshed by auto-crossbow) and Heat Blast, meaning we will be doing ST heat spend in dungeons unless there are 6 or more mobs, at which points it's a very minor gain anyway. Additionally, the Flamethrower buff is just fucking insulting because it's complete ass to use, and yet they've changed other channelled abilities like TCJ to enable movement but somehow the free-movement role isn't given the same luxury.
Wildfire still doesn't crit either, obviously, therefore still griefing crit buffs with our highest raw potency ability.
Yes it will still be viable for ultimate provided we are able to pool gauge like in TOP where HP thresholds decided whether you enrage or not, and excess damage meant you could build and dump a lot in the final phase for example.
So much for PCT being left overpowered because it's "fun for players" meanwhile MCH is still popular, acting as a stark contradiction to CBU3's excuses for not simply nerfing one job and instead causing more problems. Classic.
Dawntrail Dungeons are not too hard. The Normal raids are not too hard. You are just bad at the game, and that's okay. Sincerely. We all start somewhere after all!
However, so many refuse to even try a little to get better. Challenges are subjective but exist to be beaten, no matter where on the skill spectrum you are. Nothing should be handed to you on a plate with no effort in return. The game doesn't have to revolve around you.
It's not hard to put in the bare minimum effort. Try for once. Endeavour to improve, and you might be surprised at what you're capable of.
We're counting down the days to the release of #Dawntrail on Tuesday, July 2 with a new illustration from the #FFXIV Art team each day!
21 days to go! 🎨🖌️
